From an anxious, failed auditionee, to a regularly performing improviser & founder of Green Light Improv.

Now, Green Light Improv uses improv comedy as a tool to develop adaptable collaborators & communicators.

After Nathan saw his first improv show in 2016, he knew improv was something he wanted to do himself.

Nathan auditioned for 2 improv groups
Nathan auditioned for two groups, and he had a blast. It was as fun as he expected, but there was one problem...

He was a terrible improviser
He didn’t get into either of the two groups. He knew he needed to improve, so he started taking improv classes on the side, and then he auditioned again, and he didn’t get in...again.

He auditioned 7 times until he got into a group
In total, he auditioned 7 different times, and after a variety of trainings, he finally improved enough to get into a group.

Improv is a learnable skill
These 7 auditions taught Nathan a couple of things. First, improv is a learnable skill. Improv didn’t come easily to Nathan, but all he needed was someone to help him unlock that ability within himself.

He improved off-stage too
Nathan also realized that as he improved as an improviser, he improved in other areas too. As he became a better improviser, he also became a better entrepreneur, communicator, and team member.

Nathan founded Green Light Improv
Nathan founded Green Light Improv to apply improv comedy to different work and life skills. While starting with broad offerings, ultimately, we narrowed our product offerings to using improv comedy as a tool to develop adaptable collaborators & communicators.

You don't want to be a performer?
Recognizing that our participants don’t want to become performers, we started facilitating exercises that target work and life skills, without teaching "pure improv" along with it. Each exercise we do has a reason to be there, and it is to teach some skill with some learning outcome.
